My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: SC
I am in the process of attempting to evict/eject a tenant from a property I purchased in June. Long story short (I'll be glad to elaborate, but it's pretty boring), the tenants were informed the day of closing that I had no interest in having them as tenants, and that they should find new accommodations ASAP. They said they could not afford to move, and that numerous major repairs were needed immediately. I said that since the place was unsafe, they needed to move immediately. I gave them 30 day notice at the time of their next payment due date (incorrectly served). The next month I gave a correctly served 30 day notice to vacate. Neither payment was made on time, but both were made eventually.
They have been there 25 years. Their rent is absurdly low. There is no current rental agreement, and no-one remembers if there ever was one.
At the end of the second 30 days, no attempt had been made to move. I did not accept any additional rent.
I filed the 10 day Notice of Ejectment. That apparently got their attention, and a start was made. On the 10th day, they filed for a hearing. They have continued to remove property, but I don't know what remains to be done.
The hearing is on Monday. How should I prepare. What should I expect?
