EX120-2 and Dr Ex Software

Hi,

I have been tinkering with a ex-120-2 for a year now. It was leaky and uncared for. I been fixing the leaks, but shortly after buying last year the hydraulics went out (it was real jerky and would stall when I would steer hard right before it all went out). Anyways I replaced the dp sensor, angle sensor, filters, center joint seals (leaky), and swing reduction seals (leaky). Still need to do oil cooler and stick cylinder. I check the solenoids on the top of the pump too, seem to be...

Where does old machinery go to die ?

Based in Melbourne, Australia.

Just wondering, where does machinery that's ready to be retired, go to. Cars go to car wreckers, but I've never heard of any such thing for machinery. Machines like excavators, bobcats, tracked dumpers, forklifts, industrial machines, etc.

I've got my own little shop with 3D cad, lathe, mill, cnc plasma, etc, so have some capabilities. I'm looking at making a purpose built machine, but rather than building from scratch would like to browse any such wrecking...

Caterpillar 12e clutch removal

Hi.
I have the engine out of my old Cat 12e grader. I am going to scrap it for parts. Part it out.
A guy with an old d6 wants the D333 engine.
I don't think he probably needs the bellhousing and clutch. Surely an old d6 dozer would use a different clutch and bellhousing?

I have removed the bolts around the clutch assembly. It seems the clutch wont budge loose from the flywheel?
Is there something I don't know? What do I have to do to get the clutch off so I can get the flywheel and...

I have had a hell of a time with my 310G s/n to310GX934593 park brake everything works fine on the machine except when the machine is driven for a short distance and park brake is applied then a buzzing sound is heard and is coming from solenoid area below the steering wheel column. Where to buy quality cyl seal kits online?

I have acquired a neglected Case 580E backhoe and am going thru and fixing leaks. For front loader cylinder, i purchased two cylinder seal kits:

$19 from eBay, all no-name seals, fit and finish seemed lower than the below kit.

$32 from foxkit, included at least one SKF marked seals. Quality of fit seems more precise than the above.

My questions:
- does the use of name-brand seals make a difference ?

-where do you shop for quality seal kits?

Thanks !

Case 580B Clutch at top

I have a mid to upper 70's Case 580B with the dry clutch system. I had a new clutch put in it a few years back and I don't use it a lot. In the past few times using it I noticed that the clutch is right at the top of the peddle. It still seems to engage properly with no noticeable slipping.
Is there a way to adjust the clutch to give more peddle ?
I am concerned that it may not be completely engaging.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to change the fluid in the rear differential and planetary drives on my Case 580 Super L Backhoe. Axle numbers 114367A4 and later use MS1207 which is a HyTran Fluid.

ZF Trans Oil in Hyundai HL740TM-3

Has air cab that works, it is a PC engine. Has obviously done quite a bit of work. The blade linkages all need work as there is a fair bit of slop. Undercarriage is in quite good order. I would say the SALT links are 70%. Grousers 90%+ and the bottom roller the same. Rippers could do with a line bore but will suffice for the time being.

Strange thing is it has a modern S/N plate attached

EX60-2 Thumb Circuit

I'm planning to add a thumb to my EX60-2 and need a hydraulic circuit to run it. I'm thinking of using the unused offset boom spool. It'll require me to fab up a pedal and run a cable to the spool since it's not hydraulic. This seems to be the most fool proof way but it will be pedal actuated which isn't the worst. I'm used to that from another machine I run. I'd add a relief valve so I could tailor it to the bucket hydraulics.

If I were to go electric over hydraulic and run it off buttons...

Where is Case 580 Super L Rear Differential Part Number ?

I am going to change the fluid in the rear differential and planetary drives on my Case 580 Super L Backhoe. I found a reference that says the oil requirement is different depending on part number for the rear end on these machines - Axle Numbers 114367A2 and 114367A3 use MS1317 oil which is and 85W 140 with friction modifier. Axle numbers 114367A4 and later use MS1207 which is a HyTran Fluid.
I looked around on the rear differential but haven't found the part number yet...

International TD20 DVT573 V8 "flutters as turbo comes on"

History: This dozer was working fine when parked, then, sadly NOT USED for 5 years.

Got it running: Did all the new filters, oil etc... started and ran GREAT! But........

When you start to push or put a LOAD on the engine, as the turbo would normally build pressure (I presume) to increase power, it begins to produce a VERY AUDIBLE FLUTTER SOUND out the exhaust and power NEVER comes on.
Back off load and runs GREAT!
No other noises or irregularities.
With NO LOAD it will reach full RPM...

New to me EX120-2

Just picked up an Ex120-2 and excited to get to work on it, so it can work on our new homestead

It has leaks and a few quirks, but I have to say, spending time on here reading over the posts gave me the confidence to make the purchase.
One item though popped up that the owner didn’t mention.

The Boom up is painfully slow. You pull back on the stick, and you can hear a valve or something staving for oil. If you push down on the boom and slightly pick the machine up, then the boom up...

TEREX TA64 Knuckle Boom Lift

I've been scouring the internet looking for a service/shop manual for this 1996 lift. All I can find is the parts and owner's manuals. Seems to be very limited results for this model.

Does anyone know if this lift has a direct parallel to another brand/name like SIMON or GENIE that I could look into instead? I'm mainly interested in the wiring schematics, but if I could get my hands on a full manual that would be nice too.

Where are all the yanmar people?

Where to buy quality cyl seal kits online?

I have acquired a neglected Case 580E backhoe and am going thru and fixing leaks. For front loader cylinder, i purchased two cylinder seal kits:

$19 from eBay, all no-name seals, fit and finish seemed lower than the below kit.

$32 from foxkit, included at least one SKF marked seals. Quality of fit seems more precise than the above.

My questions:
- does the use of name-brand seals make a difference ?

-where do you shop for quality seal kits?

Thanks !

Lumber Prices

Hello, I mentioned in my other post that I'm taking on a home build. We're doing this without a general, direct with the subs.... I got sideswiped by this lumber market.

Anyone have any theories or predictions they care to share about the immediate future of the lumber market?

We're ready to buy our lumber package anytime between now and the next few months and the prices have gone through the roof!!!

Happy New 955L Owner With Questions

I took the big plunge today into owning my first piece of heavy equipment. I have a lot of earth moving to do on my 23 acre property I purchased in August and my Kubota L3400 wouldn't cut it.

After looking at several crawler loaders I settled on this 955L for the price of $8,000.00 delivered so I think I did alright given that I already did some work with it today. It runs fantastic. Very healthy sounding and no smoke of any color.

First question is where would I find the serial number?...

Hitachi Ex120 Problem

I have a Hitachi EX120-1. It started stalling when the hydraulic pump was under load. At the same time, the engine started to run hot, and the hydraulics became really fast. Various people have looked at it, one said the pump was u/s, so I took it off and took it to a pump specialist, who couldnt find anything at all wrong with it! I believe it is an hydraulic problem, rather than a fuel problem, because the engine recovers its revs straight away when you release the lever. At some time in...

Case 445 manual plunger/primer

Hey,
wondering if any actually found it or if it's just a myth.... Doing some service work on my machine. The fuel filter is spun on but could not find the above. Assuming case 430's, 40's etc. would have the same system. Operator manual says to back of the air screw and use the plunger to fill the filter but doesn't show it on the drawing. Thx.

Kobelco SK235SRLC

The machine does not throtle up as soon as you start to move the joystick for a function. If you wait a few seconds it will throtle up and work fine. if you try to lift or dig it will stahl. Preasures are in specs for the two main pumps . The Pilot pump is a little low about 650 psi, would that cause this? The govener motor was changed could that be it. Anybody have seen anything like this? Thank You, Mike 138.

Link belt 5800 automatic adjustment

Looking for some help with the automatic adjustment procedure. Had some rodents chew the wiring harness up, causing shorts that fried the controller and causing the throttle motor to stay on with key off. I pulled the harness from valve assembly on back to engine and completely pulled it apart and repaired it. Limit switch went out on throttle motor, so replaced that. Then finally a new controller from amazon, I know probably not the best idea, but $660 was way better than $5000 the dealer...

7S blade serial # location

Hey my friends, need a little help to find blade serial # on a 7F straight blade. Tractor SN # 94N8650. I thought the # was on the right rear top. Tag is long gone. Tried wire wheeling the old paint layers off this morn where I THOUGHT it should be, and no luck. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Hitachi EX swing issue

Hitachi EX120-2 Excavator
1995 4,500hrs.

I'm having issues with the swing motor. At first it would act lazy after 2-3 hrs. of use and now it barely swings after 10 mins from cold to warm. Meaning it moves left or right but at about a foot per 5 seconds with the bucket and arm curled in. Forget having a load in the bucket or boom extended out. I pulled the swing motor- full disassembly and reseal after no issue found.
At first thought I thought it was hydraulic oil getting hot and dumping...

Need Help Identifying Portable Water Pump (ITT Marlow)

Hello, I'm new to the forum and not sure if this is the right place to ask but I recently inherited a large portable water pump. I know nothing about this kind of equipment. I was curious if anyone had any information about it. Not sure when the pump was run last. I'm looking to get rid of it and was wondering how much something like this would be worth? Thank you.

Thermodyne question

Hi I was hoping those of you more seasoned people out there might know what I am looking at: I am looking at a running thermodyne it is a n/a, 2 valve, fuel pump with mechanical governor attached, the head has 20 bolts. which is all normal I am just wondering about the number stamped on the timing cover which reads:673E-5115727 . I thought all the n/a thermodynes would be stamped 673END ….. and the newer turboed ones would be 673ENDT.... so I just wondering why this one is just 673E.....? I...

Case 1840 pump leak

I have an '89 1840 with a Sundstran-Sauer M91-46 pump that is leaking. The pump works normally but it is leaking from the gasket that attaches to the rear of the pump engine side. It leaks without pressure and is no worse under pressure. I have rebuild other types of pumps and transmissions but not this one. My question is, anyone have experience with these and are there any common failure issues? Any special tools or info I might need to fix this or is this something I shouldn't do myself?

Daewoo DH130 does not shut down

My cousin recently acquired a Daewoo/Doosan DH130 SN# 0263 89 04
The unit will not shut down when turning off the key. The book that came with it has some electrical diagrams which seem to not match whats in the unit. for example it shows an electric fuel pump, and electric fan but neither are on the unit.

Can anyone offer any insight on this?

JCB 804

Planning to go check out a JCB 804, just looking for a landowner/farm machine so the specs seem good for me.

Owner states "Runs and operates need some Hydraulic adjustments for the drive motor to make it go forward mainly just when it turns might be a loose linkage? And adjustment on the grade blade won’t stay up, likes to fall down"

Anything in particular to check on the machine with regards to those 2 issues? Possibly a sign of serious problems?

The machine seems priced right so a...

looking to get a second opinion on some issues with this unit. came in with hydraulics dead, engine starts and runs good - found no pilot pressure cleaned and inspected sub control valve and pilot solenoid and all looked good there so reassembled. at idle still no pilot pressure but at full throttle pressure rises enough for the loader pilot valve to function and loader will work as it should (gear pump) left track will try to move a little in either direction but with no power right track...

Nissan 50 Enduro diesel forklift sloppy lift & tilt control

Hey guys. This Nissan 50 Enduro diesel forklift has a very hard to use lift / lower & tilt combination lever. It is SO sloppy that it has become difficult to control. (For example, to lift you have to hold the lever to the left & back towards the operator. To lower the forks, holding the lever to the right seems to do it most of the time. What in the world am I missing here??)

I don’t have much support with this issue & I don’t have a repair manual. Any help would be extremely helpful. I’m...

Case 1150E Low Trans Pressure & High Torque Converter Temps

My 1150E torque temps are running high into the yellow when it never has before.
Trans gauge never worked so I replaced it with an numbered psi gauge instead of stock color indicated gauge..
At first start up with everything completely cool, I'm seeing 175-190 psi trans pressure at full throttle & 50-60 psi at idle... Once warmed up pressure drops to 150 psi at full throttle & 20-50 psi at idle...
Not really sure where to begin.
