My question involves education law in the State of: MI
I was wondering if a public school is legally allowed to withhold my diploma and official transcripts for not paying senior dues? I'm not interested in doing "the walk" or anything else. I just want my diploma and transcripts for college.I was also wondering if a school is legally allowed to just order me a cap and gown without my permission then make me pay for it (or I don't get my diploma/transcripts)? I ask because I talked to a teacher about using my brothers cap and gown (who graduated last year) IF I decided to do "the walk" but for whatever reason they took that as "Lets just order him one without saying anything!" and now they want me to pay for it. I do plan on talking to the school about all this but I first wanted to make sure I get some facts straight so I won't just believe whatever they may tell me.
