My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Massachusetts
Minor child's father passed away and there in an ongoing court (NOT DCF) case regarding the mother's overall "fitness". Long history of drug abuse. Long term we would like to have the child reside with close family in CT. Currently the child is living with grandparents in Mass. If the court case continues through the summer is it possible to transfer temporary guardianship from MASS to CT? Also, assuming the mother is found unfit, are there any laws preventing a permanent guardian in a different state?
