My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California
I have recently finished with Disability and am able to return to work. However I now live in another state and cannot go back to my old employer.
When I was first unable to work, I could not work at all. After a few months I was given permission to go back part time. Then I received an extension for Disability.
My employer would not let me come back unless the doctor wrote another letter reiterating that I could work part time. My doctor never wrote that letter. I suspect that she was tired of my employers irrational and anal need to dot his i's and cross his t's in a way that imposed an unnecessary burden on others.
My wife and I were no longer able to handle the Bay Area's outrageous housing costs. The loss of the part-time triggered the decision to move, but even so we probably would have to do it soon anyway since it would be several months before I could handle a full time schedule. In addition, business-wise for my wife, the move made sense.
My ex-boss isn't just anal, he's mean. He always fights an unemployment claim, even when he knows it's legitimate.
So we know he is going to fight it. What do you think would be the best way to state my reason for claiming unemployment?
Thanks,
Steve
