My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Washington
Hi,
I work retail and get paid hourly plus commission. We have a base commission rate but if we meet goals x y z, our commission rate goes up. Conversely, if we miss all three goals our commission rate drops. If we get one or two goals we get our base rate.
The goals are set each month based on performance that month last year. Lately they have been setting higher, arbitrary goals. Now no one knows where the goals came from and upper management won't give me a straight answer.
Are they required to tell us how they are choosing our goals? And, if they are, am I entitled to back pay for the weeks where I missed the higher goals but would have reached the goals they should have set?
By the way, this is definitely about a commission rate change, not about a "bonus" for reaching those goals.
