My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: California
does police officer have right to impound my truck ? 45 minutes earlier the cop saw me drive my truck up the hill in apartment driveway where i live. He was on another call for someone else in apt complex.when he starts walking to his car and see's me grabbing a bag of recyclables out of recycle container. he informs me there's a municipal code against removing cans from containers. So i said i didn't know that and dropped the bag back into recycle container. He runs my name see's i'm forth waiver,searches me, then goes and searches my truck, HE DOESN'T FIND ANYTHING , then has my truck impounded and has 30 day hold put on it. This happens 45 minutes after he saw me drive 60 yards on private property. He gives me a ticket for scavenging and driving on suspended license. is it legal in ca for him to abuse his authority like that. I was just put on probation 3 days before this incident. only trouble i have ever been in and i'm 50 yrs old.
