Sales Agreements: Dealership Sold Car with Structural Damage

To start out this is in virginia.

So I bought a car back in 2010 that had a clean carfax report at that time. I recently went to trade the car in and was offered a "low ball" number because of a structural damage on the carfax. I wasn't in any colisions so I wanted to see what they were talking about. There was a report that was put on the carfax on 2011 that there was structual damage to the car but the report was given in 2007. It took nearly 4 years for that to be on the report? I took it back to the dealership I bought it from and told them they sold me a car with structual damage and they pretty much said sorry about your bad luck.

Is it bad luck or is there something I can do? Carfax and the dealership won't do anything. I feel like it shouldn't take 4 years for structural damage to pop up on carfax.
