My question involves a relationship in the state of: Texas
My ex boyfriend stayed with me for 2 months. He was never on a lease, nor did he give his house up. When we split up, he left many of his possessions at my house. We made an agreement that he would leave them there until he paid me a debt of $900 that he owed. I also financed a phone for him and added him to my phone account. We agreed that he would make the payments on the phone until it was paid off (28 more months!) , or pay it in full. He paid the first payment late! He informed me that he had the $900 and would like to retrieve his things. I told him that I would be retaining some of his possessions to serve as collateral for the phone. The phone was $800, so that is kind of a big deal. He now will not work with me regarding his possessions or debt. Can you tell me what my rights are? I do not wish to do anything illegal, but I also want to protect myself against financial loss.
