Collection and Enforcement: Change in Child Support Order

My question involves a child support case from the State of: New York

In 2009 my daughters father had custody of my daughters and filed for child support. At the time I was unemployed and living with my father, so the court impuned his income to mine and ordered I pay 125 weekly. In 2010 had gotten custody of my 2 daughters and the order was believed to be stopped. I was no longer asked to pay child support. In 2014 I asked their father to take the girls because my father had passed and I was in the process of losing my house. I was working in 2017 when I got a letter from the child support center saying I owed arrears of $333 from the previous case, that there was no new pending case. I paid the arrears, and the support center continued to take extra from my check. Which I had refunded. Recently I got a letter from the support center saying that the case from 2010 was active the whole time and I owe 50,000 in arrears. I am just wondering how that is possible when I had the children for more than half that time, and I never received anything from them previously saying that I owed anything except for the $333. And the child support center specifically told me that there was no active case and the 2010 case was ended. I don't see how all of a sudden it changed and I owe current support and 50,000 in arrears. I am currently homeless, I lost my job, and have to live off of public assistance and take care of my son, and from the time I became homeless my children's paternal grandparents have supported them along with the children's father who is employed by the MTA. I don't know what to do at this point. I cannot afford to pay child support till I get on my feet, and I don't know where these arrears came from or this so called order for pending support when I never received a new court order and was told that the order from 2010 was ended when I received custody. When I called the support center they said that the 2010 order was suspended and reinstated the same year, yet I was never told till last week and was even told I had no current order and didn't owe any arrears except the $333 which I payed.
