My question involves civil rights in the State of: virginia. Okay so long story short I got caught shoplifting at a Walmart for an item of $30. The two guys that caught me took me to a room. They salvaged the product that I took. And filled up a note of my id and what I was wearing and the item etc. then a cop came. The cop read my rights and he "arrested" me by giving me a court summon ticket. So I'm age of 19 this is my first offense. I got a court date and I'm waiting for a court summon for the mail. I don't want no one to find out cuz it's embarrassing and I'm ashamed of this. But I'm asking will I need a lawyer? And will Walmart send me a civil demand? What can I expect for in the mail? And as a first offense how long or when can I get this expunged from my record? I'm freshmen in college and I'm gonna need a job when college is done right? I simply cannot be labeled as "guilty" even tho I am. How do I win this or settle this in court? I know I'm in the wrong and I know for a fact that nothing like this will ever happen again EVER.
