First post here so go easy please! (i'm not even sure if this post in the right place)
Let me start by saying I don't know anything about vehicle registration and all the garble. So here's the down and dirty version of my problem.
I moved to Alaska for a job. I now have an Alaska driver's license since I've been here for more than 60 days. I work and live here permanently now.
I purchased a vehicle here in Alaska, with my parents co-signing for me. Our loan came from a credit union based out of Illinois (where my parents used to live).
That title has not be signed yet. I would like to be on my parents insurance policy because it's only 300 every 6 months compared to 400 every single month for me
by myself with Geico. However, my parent's insurance company requires that the vehicle be registered in Georgia, with Georgia Title & Tags.
Since my parents are co-signing, doesn't this basically make them the owner? If they sign the title, can they register my Alaskan vehicle with Georgia plates and title, even
though my vehicle is here in Alaska, and I have an Alaskan driver's license. Do I need to sign the title as well? Actually, who's name needs to be on the title?
I'm sorry I'm just all sorts of confused :D
