My question involves labor and employment law for the state of:Maryland
Ive been looking for a part time job. Ive been at the same company for 23 years now, and Ive been used to a lot of overtime. I used to work 70 to 80 hours a week anyway, but recently they have changed some policies and Im not getting the hours anymore.
Meanwhile, my company has posted some 2nd shift opportunities on the job sites. Is there any precedent for someone working 2 jobs at one company? The job description would actually be pretty much the same, if you split hairs one could say it's in a different department, but there is so much overlap it would get blurry in that regard.
I would even be willing to accept a lower rate for the second shift hours, that is, what they would pay the 1 year experienced person they are looking for in the ad. I imagine Id clock out of my employee number at shift change and into a different one, maybe get 2 W-2s at the end of the year?
Or is there some law that says I couldnt do this?
