My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California
Received 2 red light camera violations on way home work 2 nights in a row.
I didnt realize the camera tracks you and takes photo and video as I did not make a complete stop on a right turn one red. It was 4am on way home from night shift and not a car in sight.
1. Yes I am guilty and Yes I will never do this again!!
2. If I had known I made a mistake the first time I would not have done it the second time but I didnt get the ticket in the mail until 2 weeks later.
3. I can do traffic school for the first ticket and pay $490 plus about $200 in traffic school fees.
4. The second ticket will put 1 point on my DMV record and also $490.
Is there anything I can do to avoid the point on my DMV record? or am I screwed?
I have a perfect driving record and I never speed and have no history of this. Would it be worth going to traffic court to ask for a lesser charge or community service instead of the point? Or am I waisting my time and I should pay the $1,200 and move on with 1 point on my DMV record?
Appreciate any advice you can offer. This really affecting me and I feel really stupid for doing this stupid act (right turn on a red light without stopping) and the fine is very steep for me, I don't make that much money at my night shift.
