My question involves real estate located in the State of: Tennessee
My Great Grandmother moved out of a house in 1988 and passed away the next year. No one claimed the home. The house was unoccupied for about 10 years then my sister occupied the home and paid taxes for 18 consecutive years. Last April my sister moved out and I moved in the same day she moved out. I didn't know if this would count as tacking in order to gain adverse possession by Tennessee's 20 year rule. If that's the case I wanted to find out what I would not to do to proceed that way once the 20 years was up. Also There was no will and the house would get divided 20 ways if we tracked down every relative.
Thank You for any help you can give.
