My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: California
Hi - I am looking for information on getting medical bills paid.
About 3 weeks ago my 2 year old son was in a car accident with my mother. A delivery/box truck swerved into their lane on the freeway and then the truck pulled right and hit another car. The police report shows that the driver of the truck made an unsafe lane change and that the accident was his fault.
My moms car was totaled and my son was taken by ambulance to the trauma center at a local hospital. He ended up being fine just a bad laceration on his neck from the car seat straps but I am getting some bills in and it is already over $16,000!!!!
My mom has already received a settlement for her car through her insurance company. So it sounds like the truck drivers insurance is taking responsibility.
So these are my questions:
1. Who do I go through to get my son's medical expenses paid?
2. Do I contact the trucks insurance?
3. We have medical insurance which picks up anything over our $5000 deductible....does the car insurance just pay our out of pocket portion or the entire bill? I don't want to get reimbursed for our out of pocket costs and then have Blue Cross come back and demand that I turn that over to them for what they paid.
Thanks!
