Custody and Visitation Issues: Judge Impartial

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Indiana
I am representing myself in a custody hearing where the father has filed for full custody. He can afford an attorney AND was able to pay his portion of the Guardian ad Litem whereas I just dont have the extra funds. I was called to court because I was in Contempt of the order which I was. I get that, but it wasnt out of disrespect it is because my financial situation does not allow for an extra $1,000 to go for a retainer. The Judge didn't want to hear me, heset it for a hearing and then told me in open court "the hearing will not go your way" That is verbatim! No evidence has been presented except for my financial inability to pay the retainer. That comment alone, I believe, is enough for me to ask for an impartial judge or once he gives custody to the dad, to file an appeal. Any thoughts from the legal community? I hope the fact that I am not ranting like a madwoman doesnt make you think that I am not terrified about the outcome. By the way both children 17 and 12 DO NOT WANT TO LIVE WITH THEIR FATHER and have told the GAL this and are ready to tell the Judge this since he has ordered them to be present. One further question: the kids wont have to say where they want to live in open court do they? they are both terrified of the repurcussions from their Dad if they do. I appreciate any feedback
