My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Texas.
The date I am requested to appear "on or before" is less than a week after the day in which the violation supposedly occurred. In face, it is only one day after the first day (tomorrow) that I am eligible to call the court regarding information surrounding my citation.
This seems ridiculous. If I am required to have everything in order to appear before a judge, why did they only give me one real day to be able to prepare?
I read somewhere online that the "notice to appear" only means that I need to call/appear/notify the court of my intent to take any one of three courses of action (not guilty, no contest, or guilty). If this were true, it would make more sense and take a great amount of the stress out of this situation.
I was hoping to have at least a week to sit on the idea of pleading not guilty to try to work to get my violation stepped back a bit, but if I have to make a decision by tomorrow the process becomes much more hectic.
Could someone please clear this up? Thank you.
