My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Washington
My car was photographed and filmed driving at 33mph in a 20mph school zone. SE70 (?) NB Boren Ave S @ Bailey Elementary, Seattle at just after 2pm.
It's a 4 lane road in the middle of Seattle and I guess the driver missed the warning sign (I havent been back to check if there is one yet since I only got the notice today). The officer statement seems to be a pre-prepared statement (typed not written) "based upon my reviews of videos and/or photographs" It cites SMC 11.52.100 and is signed. In the video the driver can be seen changing lanes from the left lane to the right lane. All traffic on the film in both directions appear to be doing a similar speed using the naked eye.
Contested hearings would be at Seattle Municipal. I have a low income, 2 kids and am pregnant. I can't see any technical reasons why I would be able to escape this so should I go straight to mitigation and then deferral? Is deferral possible in this county? My insurance premium is $50 a month and I have a clean record since I started driving 23 years ago. How much could this affect those premiums? The fine amount is $234.
I'm open to spending the time and research necessary to challenge, but I'm not seeing much light in the tunnel as it were. I suppose I should ask for discovery in the hope that they mess that up somehow but it seems like I'm caught in an automated process that I imagine most errors have already been ironed out of.
I can post the violationinfo.com data if needed. I've read the blewis thread, but, so far, I can't see any magic bullets in there. All help and advice appreciated.
