Determination of Fault: Accident Between a Car Partially Blocking a Driveway and a Vehicle Backing Out

My question involves an accident in the state of Ca. I live with my Gf's parents at their house for the moment that this incident occurred. I'm not sure who's at fault or what but there are two cars parked in the drive way at the house making the driveway packed, also there is a trash pick up that is blocking parking space in front of the house that is actually 3 days late for scheduled pick up by the city as posted. So there for i had permission to park in front of the house on the grass at an angle since both cars are in the straight small driveway by the grass. Well recently my gf's uncle was stopping by in his wife's Newish BMW and parked sideways blocking the driveway of the three cars (Also note that he recently got hit while parked and filed a claim within the week). Without knowing where he was parked and it was dark i was going to my suv to take my gf to grab something to eat I jumped in my suv slowly backed out but i was looking in my right mirror so I didn't hit her parents car that were both parked In the driveway, then i had felt a hit and my suv jerked. Me and my gf both thought I hit something in the trash pile but i hit her uncles wife's BMW. The uncle was not too upset when it had happened he was more worried about the wife and said we can go half on the deductible which put a basketball size dent and damaged only the back door passenger side. That wasn't a problem till the next day he called asking about my information and that he was sorry but the wife wanted to report me and take action. I gave him my information and I currently have no insurance as I can't afford it. Please give me an opinion, i know i am also responsible but I am struggling with child support and my gf is currently pregnant so i am very stressed.
