Dealership Misdiagnosed Problem Resulting in Engine Damage

I have a 2011 Dodge Charger with a blown motor. (Out of warranty) The car started making a rattling noise under the hood when decelerating so I took it to the dealership to let them look at it. They drove it and heard the same problems that I had described. When I talked to the dealership they told me that the mechanic believed that the noise was coming from the torque converter on the transmission, but the transmission guy was not going to be there for a couple of weeks and I'd have to bring it back in a couple of weeks. Within about a week and a half went buy and the car quit. I towed the car to the dealership and was told that the timing chain had broken (source of the noise) and that it had "grenaded" the motor. I feel that they should be responsible for the damage to the engine since they misdiagnosed it (Transmission is a long way from the front of the engine). Would I be able to get them to fix it? I found out later that the timing chain had a recall and "supposedly" was fixed at the dealership where I purchased the vehicle. I'm trying to get the motor fixed due to the recall but if they say that it broke due to another reason can I get them for the misdiagnoses? The dealership never mentioned anything at all about the timing chain recall. I found out about it on my own. Thanks for any help.
