Unlicensed Driving Driving Without License, First Time Offense

My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Ohio

Okay so me and my roommate both are residents of the State of Ohio, in Washington County, aka Marietta. He's 56 years old and I'm 32. Recently on Friday afternoon, while on our way to Sandusky Ohio to visit with a good friend for the weekend, my roommate thought it would be a good idea for me to learn how to drive (since the area we were in had flat roads and only two lanes on the roads), so we swapped seats at a Marathon station in Strahsburg and he proceeded to teach me how to operate the car, and then we left the gas station, proceeding onward. Around 8 or so that night, he commented to me that we needed to stop off at a store to get a new bulb for one of his headlights, and so I proceeded to stop in the parking lot at Walmart in Ashland County, and just as I pulled in, I looked in my mirror, and saw flashing red and blue lights right behind us. Immediately stopping the car, two officers came up to the vehicle and began to question us both.

I explained to the officer who questioned me about how that I've never held a permit or a license before and that my roommate was simply trying to help me learn how to drive and get acquainted with the idea, so that when I would get a license, it wouldn't be so difficult. We both received tickets from the officers. Mine for driving without a license and with only one headlight, his was for wrongful entrustment. So I guess the big question on my mind is how should we handle this when we go in on Friday? Should we plead guilty, no contest? This is a first offense for both of us and so we're scared that we might have to do jail time as well. Right now our main plan is to just go in, be apologetic for what we've done, and plead no contest to the charges.

Any help would be great.
