My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: Florida
My 17 yr old son elected to purchase a vehicle from a private seller and wanted to do it himself, so I didn't go with him. He paid $1500 for the car, it was not running, so he immediately took it to the shop and had another $1300 in work done to it. After it was finished, he attempted to register the vehicle and is now finding out that the seller did not have ownership (wasn't on title) for the vehicle. The title is still in (we assume) the previous owner's name, with no signature or transfer of any kind on title. My question is, if he is unable to provide us clear title, and he takes the car back, am I seeking sales price plus repairs?
