My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Virginia. I live in Nevada. In January of 2015 my youngest daughter (then 17) moved in with me from Virginia after living with her mother for a year and 4 months. I had just signed a consent order to pay arrears for that period in December 2014. I did notify the CS people here in
Nevada of her relocation. Around October 2015 I just happened to find a VA.Gov web site dedicated to child support case balances. I was shocked that it showed that the state of Virginia had paid over $5,000 in child support to my ex-wife for the period of February to October 2015 , and the arrears balance had not changed. At that time I not only contacted by phone, Nevada but also the Virginia offices in charge of child support collection. (Note) Just today I was notified to the fact that my ex did not notify the Virginia until probably December 2015. Coincidence? Or did the Virginia happen to contact her to ask about my daughters residence and make the changes at that time. For the last year I have been trying to resolve this discrepancy through the state of Nevada (Unprofessional) and am now being told I have to sue my ex-wife to recover the funds. To add insult to injury they also state that I must continue paying the arrears balance. Am I responsible for her fraud?
