My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Ohio
This situation is actually happening to my mother and I am a daughter trying to help out .
Ok so my nephews mom asked my mother if she can co sign with her on a car she wanted to purchase . My mom agreed to be her co signer . So my mother doesn't speak good English , but she told me that the dealership guy made it clear to her that she is just the consigner for 6 months , then her name will be removed .
Basically my mother found out that she is not the cosinger she is actually the owner of this car . And the lady she is helping , her name is not even on any paper . Even though my mom said she saw her sign documents with her .
My mom found out she was the owner , when this girls car got towed and my mom had to go with her to get it out of the auction and pay for the fees .
So now my mom is stuck , there is no way to change the loan into this girls name , and the car just got towed again so my mom is responsible for it . And she still has 14 thousand dollars left on it . Please can someone help me out , what should we do ? Do we take it to court ? The dealership lied to my mom and told her she will be the consigner for six month . Also my mom never made payment on this car , the girl always paid for it .
