Getting Fired: Terminated for Missing Bank Deposit, No Investigation Pursuant Despite Request

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: North Carolina

I was a store manager for the company __________ up until 2-17-17 when I was terminated for a bank deposit gone missing. February 3rd, I did my usual routine, counted the stores monies, recorded the information, bagged it and went straight to the bank where I deposited the bag (with over $5000 in it) into the key accessible night deposit box.
Now, almost 3 weeks later, the bank reported to my company that they did not receive that bag. Another Manager and I went to the bank, asked to see transaction records, and bags collected, we also asked to see cameras, but they claim they only have indoor ones and really weren’t willing to look into it any further. I was terminated after loss prevention and my Market manager came in early Friday morning to question me. Everyone knows I did not take it. Supposedly, I only have proof from MY (former) store's cameras that I properly left with the money and drove in the direction of the bank.
I am not being charged, however, I feel this will taint my good name and follow me through future employment, despite my innocence. I do not understand why my company is not looking into this further, either. 15 years I have worked in retail and handled money without fail or issue. Is there anything that can be done regarding my termination or even in trying to find the deposit, that couldn’t have just disappeared? Just truly feel that for corporate to discard such a dedicated employee is within itself an injustice, but to do this way, is almost criminal.
I appreciate your time in reading this, and appreciate any information given.
