Minors' Rights: Kicked Out Age 16 Need Advice

About one month ago I was kicked out of my house by my mother and have since been living with a friend. I am currently much happier in my situation and don't plan on going back anytime soon to a neglectful house. I go to school every day and attend all of my classes as well as I recently got a job at del taco. (Not great, but it's a start) I have a few issues that I have since come across whilst being on my own that I'm not quite sure how to deal with. First- I was sick due to weather and allergies so I skipped one day of school. I got a text from my sister notifying me that if it happened again my mother would force me back home. I believe that I should be able to be sick and stay home but I'm not sure how to check myself out of school and the friends parents whom I am living with cannot do it because they are not registered in court as my legal guardians. I don't want to have to bring it to the attention of my counselor or the school in case they force me to go home. (An abusive situation I am more than happy to be out of) I was just wondering if there was any way that I could check myself out of school or find a way around this. Also I paid for the CHPSE test which I am taking in March. It's a test to give me my diploma so I can attend college sooner so that i can focus on getting a career. I'm almost 100% sure that even after I pass the test I cannot drop out of school without parental permission. Does this change if I have not lived with them for months and they have not been providing for me? At this point I'm just trying to figure out the best course for my life which is hard to do as a minor with no parents.
