My question involves a traffic citation from the state of: california
So a couple months ago i decided to sell my car since it wasn't working and i had no funds to fix it. My mistake was in believing the guy who bought the car, when he said he couldnt sign the ownership transfer because something to do with the odometer thing was wrong and that he had to go through a process of whatever whatever.. I did not really understand. wanting to get rid of the car quickly, i just gave him the pink slip and didnt keep any proof of sale. Today I received a letter from towing that i had to pay or take the amnesty offer which would be $700.00. what can i do? Am I really screwed because the car got towed while still being under my name? and having no proof of sale and the owner never registered it under his name? I never even put insurance on the car because as soon as i bought it, the car messed up so I knew the car was done. i contacted the guy, i saved his number thinking JUST INCASE THIS HAPPENS! and was I right, but obviously he denied ever buying the bwm and said he had no idea what I am talking about. what can I do?
