My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: nj . I recently settled a case for a car accident in which I was severely injured. While I was out of work my company offered short term disability through a third party. None of the paper work I signed talked about paying back the amount they gave me. I decided to do a little reasearch on my own and came accross.a disclaimer stating that they have the right to repayment once a case is settled. I asked my lawyer and he said since they personally have not contacted us "its best to let sleeping dogs lie." They paid almost $14,500.00 to me while I was out. If I spend all my settlement money, can they come after me down the road??? Thank you for your help
