My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: California
I have been rear-ended by a city maintenance truck at a stop sign. I got whiplashed and suffered a concussion. Doctor says I may need physical therapy for my neck in the future.
The truck driver admitted fault and said the truck had some type of a mechanical problem that he couldnt stop. The car damage is being handled by my auto insurance company; however, the adjuster says I will have to pursue personal injury claim against the city on my own.
In addition, I am told that my medical provider may bill me for the cost of its services related to the accident and make me recover those costs from the city. At this time I dont know what that amount might be. Should I wait on submitting a claim to the city or do it now and leave the amount undetermined?
If it is confirmed that the truck had previous reported issues, would that change how the settlement is handled?
