My question involves a traffic citation from the state of: Michigan

Here is my story.
I went to a gas station because the original gas station I was going to was literally on fire because someone crashed into the gas pump. I went to another gas station, went inside and told the gas attendent about the fire, got gas and parked my car at the pump. I then went to see what was going on about 4 blocks on foot because I didn't want to drive past a potential explosion. (I live near it so it is a hazard for me.) When I returned on foot to where I pumped gas the gas station was closed and a cop was by my car. I opened my car and the cop steps out and says a tow truck was called. He asked for my license and I was unable to leave. The tow truck arrived and they said they needed $50 for them to just come out. Do I need to pay this? They gave me their card, the cop talked to them and was incredibly rude to me, calling me dumb and telling me to calm down.
Do I have any legal defense in this situation or am I stuck with the bill?
