My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California
My wife accepted a job offer with a new company about three weeks back. They gave her a starting date of 9/26/15 (day after tomorrow). She put her notice in with her current employer, and everything seemed great. Today (9/24/15) she receives word from her new employer that her starting date has been pushed back to 10/24/15. No explanation was given as to why her start date was pushed so far back.
This really hurts us as a family. A few days delay is one thing, but almost an entire month? We are now out an entire month of wages.
Are there any laws to protect against something like this?
