My question involves criminal law for the state of: Utah. I don't even remember how it happened, but it was for $12 I bought some other stuff for much more than that amount. I have NEVER been in trouble with the law before, this goes against all that I believe in. I have been under a lot of stress and taking antidepressants and sleep medication, also been seeing a psychologist for this. They say they have video. My only guess is that I'm losing it. I cannot plead guilty since I'm in immigration process to become a resident. I understand I need to get a lawyer, my question is: Is there anything I can do to have the charges either dismissed, reduced etc. I am not even familiar with court proceedings. They gave me a "citation" but took my fingerprint and picture. PLEASE HELP!! What is my best option to avoid this on my record, and prevent any problems with my immigrant visa. THANKS!
