My question involves police conduct in the State of: MI
If a person possessed illegal contraband in his desk at his State University workplace, do University Police with jurisdiction in that facility need to first secure a warrant to open that desk and search it? If they do need a warrant, could they get around it by asking an employee of that facility to open the desk instead, and then confiscate the contraband since it was in plain sight?
