My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Florida
Can a 17 year old who's not emancipated have custody of her baby? She is living with friends. Unemployed. Does marijuana and alcohol and possibly other illegal drugs.
I am a third party family member. The maternal grandparents are unfit to be guardians, and information about the father is unknown. I'm thinking ahead if at any point we should try to peruse custody or temporary guardianship. The baby has not been born yet. Does the mother have a right to her child as an Un-emancipated minor living alone? If DCF were to determine the mother is unfit, how would a third party family member go about attaining custody?
Thank you.
