My question involves a child custody case from the State of: New York
My 20-yr old daughter has finished college (associate's degree) and has moved out of her mother's home to take an apartment for herself. She works part-time, but has sufficient income and savings to be self-supporting.
Under New York State law, she is considered emancipated, and I should technically no longer need to pay her mother support for her. However, do I need to go to court to amend any paperwork, or can I simply alter my support payment to reflect the two children I'm still supporting?
Thanks!!
