My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: CA
I live in San Francisco. My housemate agreed to move out and gave notice to the landlord over 30 days ago. The landlord has acknowledged receipt of the letter which was sent both by email and by post.
Today, April 1, 2016 is the first day that the housemate (let's call him Doug) is no longer an official tenant. Since our agreement six weeks ago Doug has not taken steps to leave and still has most of his things in the flat. We need his space cleared out and we are trying to help him move forward but he has not helped us or himself to move on. We don't know what our rights are. Can we put his things out on the sidewalk and change the locks?? This is not our first choice but we really need him to be moving forward so that we can do the same with our own plans for the space.
Help!
Thanks,
Evan
