Workers Compensation Issues: What is the Mileage Rate for Reimbursement of Medical Travel

For anyone interested the mileage rate for unpaid traveling expenses in California has changed as of January 1. The reimbursed rate is 54 cents per mile on 2016, regardless of the date of the actual work injury. The new rate is in accordance with Labor Code section 4600, and is in conjunction with section 19820 of the Government Code and the Department of Personnel Administration regulations. These organizations establish the rate that injured victims involved in workers’ compensation claims will be reimbursed for medical or medical-legal expenses.
