My question involves defamation in the state of: Pennsylvania.
I want to speak publicly about a former teacher/coach who groomed me while I was a student and had a year-long sexual affair with me after I turned 18. This was in the mid-late 1990s. I was unable to sue for civil damages, but I filed a complaint to the state department of education, which forced her to surrender her teaching certificate. She was already teaching in higher ed by then, but I felt vindicated to a certain degree.
I believe that she could be a threat to her college students and that she might have lured other high school students into harmful, unethical relationships. As with others who have spoken out about abuse long after the fact--accusers of Cosby being the most prominent--I think the public has a right to know. The harm that she caused me is immeasurable. Further, she does not deserve to be in any position of authority over students of any age.
Am I correct in that, as long as whatever I say or write is the truth, there is no chance for a defamation suit?
