My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: OH
I am the lease holder of a 2 bed 2 bath apt in Columbus, OH. One guy stepped into my apartment as per my friends recommendation as a roommate in September (transferred rent on Sep 14th, personal bank transfer).
His behavior is very rude and after 15 days, didn't leave and said will leave after another 15 days and finally ended up in being in my apt for a week over 2 months. Now, I am worried that he might not leave the apt at all and he made a personal bank transfer of this Nov month's rent on 4th of this month.
There isn't any written agreement between him and me. His behavior is extremely suspecting and he is using all my utensils without my permission. He is using the restroom and not cleaning it despite asking him multiple times.
I had spoken with landlord they said they cannot evict him as he is not on the lease. I called police they said, they can't tell him to go as he is my apt for more than a month :wallbang:.
I am on a month to month lease and wanted to get rid of him and so, may I know, if I can break my lease immediately and leave my apt right away to get rid of him? But can you please, suggest, if I can do it? So, that he leaves along with me as soon as I turn in the keys to the leasing office?
Since, there isn't written agreement between me and him, I don't need to tell him or give him any notice, since I am terminating the lease due to some personal problems? I am ready to move out to get rid of him.
Is that the only option? Do I can do anything else to get rid of him ASAP?
I am afraid that he might break something in my apt and I will end up in being responsible for everything. Please, suggest what options do I have on in here, so that I can get him out ASAP.
