My question involves criminal law for the state of: California
Hello there! I made a purchase at a grocery store a few weeks ago. As I was leaving the store the alarm went off. I stopped and waited for someone to come to me, no one did. Another shopped said, "they don't care." I waited a bit longer, still no one came. I had my receipt, did not steal anything. I continued on my way.
I am curious if a shopper has a responsibility to do anything when this happens? Like go back inside, or is it the store's responsibility to respond?
Thank you!
