My question involves labor and employment law for the state of Ohio:
I am currently working as a substance abuse counselor in Ohio. I am working towards the LCDC (LICENSED CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY COUNSELOR) and have been working in this field for approx one year. I have been with my current employer for about 3 months, and my prior employer for 9 months. The problem is, is that to be eligible for the LCDC exam, you need 2000 contact hours in different areas (counseling, intake, etc...). At the prior employer, I worked approximately 1500 hours in areas such as intake, documentation (etc...).
Most of my prior job dealt with these areas. I left the job and now my former supervisor will not give me credit for the hours, stating that it was not part of my job description, the thing is, those hours are exactly what I need. Should I get a lawyer and threaten to sue? As I understand it, they cannot deny me credit for the hours I worked. Can someone give me some advice?
