Discovery: How to Request Informal Discovery, Before Trial De Novo

My question involves traffic court in the State of: California

Hello everyone, hello experts:

I was found guilty (Violation: VC22450A I) after Trial by written declaration for Vehicle Code $40902 for the citation of stop sign. But I strongly believed that I was NOT guilty. Then Trial De Novo is scheduled one month later from now. Here are my questions:

1. Can people that have won their Trial De Novo, especially for VC22450(a), give me some suggestions on what arguments, defense, evidence to use to win it. Any pointers as to what to say, what not to say?

2. How can I request information discovery to collect the notes/logs/etc from the police officer? I got some ideas from this link: http://ift.tt/1Q5HqPI

3. Is there any other better way to get ride of the potential points in my DMV record (which will impact my insurance rate)?
