My question involves personal property located in the State of: Nebraska
I'm planning on moving out soon, I haven't told my mother directly yet (though I've given her hints and she just brushes it off) and I know she won't be thrilled with it. I do have receipts for the valuables I plan on taking like my laptop and my phone (though the contract is in my name anyhow) and I know I won't be bothered with taking things that I need for school or other things she has no use of like personal care stuff. My main concern lies with stuff that I want to take that she bought for me, either for my own use or as a gift - some of it while I was a minor a few years ago - and I know that's where it can get iffy. I'm talking about things like my mirror/lights/TV/xbox or maybe even my bed if the place is unfurnished. I know if my mom tells me I can take something then I can & that's the end of it, however my mom is unstable at best and I wouldn't put it past her to get angry & attempt to file a false police report about being burglarized after the fact, whether it's to make my life harder or to try and pull some insurance fraud scheme, she's used the law to try and make both of those happen before. I won't push the issue and I'd rather just cut my losses than risk being accused of theft but I just wanted to double-check here. I'm 20 if it matters.
