My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
I would like to find out what the statue of limitations are in Texas. Ok I will start from the beginning. I was convicted of a felony back 4 years ago in January of 2011. First offense my charge was manufacturing of a controlled substance. I got 10 years probation. I have been on probation. For 4 years. There is nothing left for me to do except pay $350. I have completed everything g that was requires of me. I have had no problems, no dirty ua's In the past 3 years. My case came up for review this month was looking to get off early. Just about 2 weeks ago I got pulled over for no license plate light. The car that I was in was a car I had just bought. It had no insurance no inspection and registration. I was driving it home. I told the officer that I had just bought it. They ask me to step out of the car so I did. They asked if there was anything illegal in the car. I told them I iust bought it and not that I know of. They asked to search and I said " I don't see a reason why u need to search. Being that u pulled me over for a no license plate light. I said no I don't give u consent to search. With that they said they are going to tow the car being it didn't have any reg, inspec, or insurance. So I grabbed all my stuff out of the car. Purse phone chargers a hoodie. They then we're going to take inventory of the car but being I had just got it there was nothing In there to inventory. I then was giving my keys and I said then I'm free to go. They never answered me till I started walking away. They said I need to have a seat cause I need a copy of the inventory. I said there is nothing to inventory. They continued to look around the car as to when they reached up and under the console and pulled out what to be a little zipper bag. They then cuffed me and charged me with poss. Over 4 grAms of meth. Bonded out and was just wondering what could come of this? Am I looking at doing time,or could i possible get off for illegal search and seizure ? Also would like to know what the statue of limitations are for all this?
