Modification of Custody: Do I Need Guardianship of My Own Child

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: mississippi.

Dad/children live in MS, I live in La.

Dad has decided to allow my oldest to live with me but only if I agree to not change anything through the courts.

I've been told (by the school) that enrolling her in school will be an issue though as they are requesting custody papers since she was out of state last year. Is it possible to get a revokable temp guardianship over your own child?

Or does anyone know if it's possible to enroll my child in my school district without having custody if her father signs off?

If someone can point me in the right direction, I'd be much obliged.
