My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: TEXAS
Back in August of 2014, my ex boyfriend authorized a vet to inject his mare while at the trainers. At the time he had both our names listed on her AQHA papers. I was not told till after the fact and when i called the vet to find out details i expressed that i would rather pull the mare from training and was told that the deed was already done.
The boyfriend and split in September 2014, he left the mare with me and i paid off the remainder of her training bill to bring her home. The vet bill was still a dispute as again, he got authorization from HIM not me and at that time we were still arguing over who was going to get what in the split. Since then he has moved off to New Mexico and basically disappeared although he still works for the same company here.
In November he signed the mare over to me and took another one of the horses that was in both names. I reminded him of his vet bill and he laughed and said that was my problem now. The vet has now called and harassed me continuously over this bill to which i agreed to pay half of it since i ended up with the mare in the end but felt the ex owned him half as he was the one that authorized services. I gave the vet my cc info for a payment towards my half to which he stated he needed more than that but took the info anyhow. He demanded my physical address of where i live and my email address, I explained none of that was needed to make a payment as he had my cc number, exp date, cvc code and zip code and since he had done nothing but yell over the phone in a threatening manner i wasnt comfortable giving him anymore information that what was needed to pay the bill.
He has repeatedly text me demanding my email and physical address, even had mutual friends try to get it for "wedding invitations" and states that his attorney will be serving me papers to sue for the full amount and has been informed not to accept any type of payment now and to demand the full amount only. He claims now he never agreed to payments yet I have witnesses that he was yelling over the phone that he needed closer to half of the amount owed. He has told me to sue my ex as he cannot find him, I've given him all the information i have to find him as well. I asked that his attorney call me and he said that no she would not be calling me.
Where do i stand on this? Can he refuse the payment after taking my information? Does he have the right to call and yell like he does and demand information that isnt pertinent to him getting paid?
NOTE: I no longer own this horse ....
