I study in upstate NY state and my husband bought a vehicle in NY state when I started school in 2011. My husband lives in New jersey. Over the past few years, I have been changed apartments in Syracuse a lot since I am only here during the academic semester. I am living in New Jersey with my husband this semester since we had a baby. My vehicle registration expired in Sept 2013. I wasn't aware of it and only got to know during a car cleaning service when they pointed it out. I have been getting NY state inspection in Syracuse regularly but we were honestly unaware about renewing the vehicle registration or else I would have renewed it when I used to get the NY state inspection done. The vehicle registration has now been expired for over two years. I have a North Carolina license and my husband holds a New Jersey license. I would like to know how we can renew our vehicle registration? What are our options? I realize that we should have been aware of it and renewed it in time but since I am on F1 visa and working as a student I was not aware of the regulations and did not receive the renewal notice (it may have come to an apartment after I left it and did not get forwarded).
