Adoption of Children: Can the Mother of My Childs Husband Adopt My Daughter Without My Consent

My question involves adoption law for the State of: Colorado
I am a non custodial parent. Child support established since a few months after birth of child. Signed/notarized acknowledgement of paternity. Mother has sole legal and physical. Visitation never established. I reside in Missouri. Mother and daughter moved out of state 4 years ago. Mother/daughter and husband reside in Colorado. Mother and husband have been married over a year( i have read that this would be the thresh hold for the amount of time to which a step parent adoption is considered by the courts as significant and would be more inclined to proceed with a step parent adoption). Child support is being paid but i owe. Mother and daughter recently moved back to Missouri then moved back to Colorado, while my daughter and her mom were here me and my daughter were able to spend time together on the weekends( they were having marriage issues, talk of divorce, anyway so she went back to him). Now here i am thinking about my daughter every moment and missing her so much. Daughters mom will not allow contact in anyway (which from what i have read is legal because there is no contact/visitation order in place, that i know of, i have never been to court for any matter regarding my daughter). Prior to the recent contact i have not had contact with my daughter since she was a baby(years ago). My daughter just turned 6. I was told i could file for visitation so that me and my daughter would be able to see each other again so i am saving money for an attorney. In the mean time i am SO worried that my daughters mom's husband will be able to adopt my daughter because i was absent for years and technically still am because i have had no contact with my daughter in 2 months or filed for a visitation plan yet. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
