Service of Process: Old Address, Old Roommate

My question involves court procedures for the state of: Washington State

Papers were served for an old debt from a creditor to my old roommate at an old address that I haven't lived at since December of 2016. The address is 240 miles away and three counties away from where I actually live now. I only found out yesterday when that old roommate finally found my number and let me know about it. The papers are still at the old address. Apparently they asked my roommate for me and he said "he's not here right now" and the server just gave her the papers.

Do I need to file an answer to the suit? Can I file for dismissal based on a bad service of process? If I do get it to go away using this defense whats to keep the company from getting my new address from the courts and using that to serve me a few days later?

I finally got a great job, and am cleaning up my debts. If I can delay this until I get back on my feet (which would take about 6 more months) and caught up with my debts that would be great. Otherwise I will be garnished out of a job and probably end up right back to where I was a year ago, which was not a good place.

Thank you.
